7 Easy Summer Outfits That Are Just 3 Pieces or Less

Personally, I loathe standing in front of the mirror on a 90-degree day, trying on shirt after shirt, only to end up with a sweaty back and no cute outfit to leave the apartment in. Summer dressing should be easy! This season, I’ve vowed to change my hot-weather wardrobe habits. My new rule? Wear outfits that require just three pieces of clothing or less. The simplified process means I won’t overthink my look (dress and sneakers? Done!), but I’m not sacrificing style either, thanks to some street style inspiration. To prove it really can be done, I’ve crafted seven sunshine-and-rosé-ready outfits I plan to rotate weekly, below. Join me?
Day 1
The “what do I wear to work?” dilemma is too real. Cut down the time you spend in front of the mirror by always grabbing these three items: a striped button-down shirt, a black skirt, and sock boots. The leather skirt with its classic silhouette and sturdy material is key to crafting a polished look for the office. Boots add that essential fashion-girl touch. Although, you can replace the shoes with flats or heels if your ankles are just too damn sweaty.
Day 2
A T-shirt is wearable year-round, but it’s an especially versatile piece come summer. Instead of tucking your favorite black tee into the same pair of blue jeans, kick up the sophistication by styling it with cotton or silky wide-leg trousers. Go for bottoms with a high-waisted cut to create the illusion of longer legs. And for a real bump in height, slip on some red heels. That pop of color takes the outfit from fine to fabulous.
Day 3
When the temperatures hit 85-degrees or higher, it’s time to give your jeans a break (sorry, we still love you, denim!). Instead, opt for bottoms in more breathable fabrics, like printed cotton pants or linen trousers. Pair them with your favorite graphic T-shirt for that quintessential street style outfit. Complete the look with this season’s It shoe—the mule—and be on your fashionable way to work, brunch, and beyond.
Day 4
A dress and sneakers: The simple two-piece outfit I swear by for oppressively hot days. A dress in a feminine print, like florals, gives off extra summertime vibes. And white dad sneakers are the I-don’t-have-to-think-about-anything choice for effortless style. Worried about catching a chill as the AC blasts? Toss a colorful blazer over your shoulders. This whole look can be thrown together in under five minutes, which gives you plenty of time to make it to drinks with friends before happy hour ends.
Day 5
The jumpsuit is a close second to the dress and sneakers look when it comes to easiest outfit ever. This season, you’ll find plenty of utilitarian styles in denim and khaki for a relaxed approach to dressing. If you’re feeling bold, unzip this jumpsuit to show off a white bralette or crop top. A cool mule and classic designer bag add the finishing touches to this A+ street style ensemble.
Day 6
Consider denim shorts a white canvas on which you can build—and we suggest you layer on a sporty top and funky footwear. Think like a stylist and select shirts with an interesting color or cutout designs—or both!—and make that the focal point of your ensemble. As for footwear, I love a boot in lieu of sneakers or sandals to switch things up.
Day 7
Looking for a cute weekend outfit to wear to the park or out to drinks? This tiny crop top, breezy skirt, and sandals look is the epitome of a relaxed ensemble. It says “I’m put together, but also totally not worried about anything.” Plus, you can easily pack this three-piece outfit into a suitcase for all your warm-weather vacations.

Cool White Sneakers That Will Still Look Great With a Little Scuffing

A white sneaker is like a white T-shirt—you’re always searching for the perfect one, and it never goes out of style. The versatile staples are the building blocks to any outfit and without them, well, it’s like the world your wardrobe isn’t complete. Whether you prefer your white sneaker crisp and clean (a tried-and-true tip: use Mr. Clean magic erasers to gently erase stains and dirt build-up), or a bit scuffed like those from Golden Goose, the street-style shoe never looks stale. Especially, if this season’s newest selections come with cool designs like topstitching or logos. Ahead, 13 of the best white sneakers that are worth the perpetual cleaning cycle.
One Star Lugged Ox Sneakers
Looking for sneakers to give you a boost in height? Try this slightly elevated pair from Converse. Unlike the brand’s flatter sole styles, this one will give you added inches. Wear it with your favorite spring/summer skirt in lieu of heels.
Madox Lace Up Espadrilles
For sneakers that work for summer, I present to you these espadrilles. The esparto rope gives this leather shoe a casual and laidback vibe, whether you wear this on the street or to the beach. The pastel pink on the back adds soft coloring.
Diamond Patent-Trimmed Leather Sneakers
JIMMY CHOO
What makes this sneaker unique are the transparent soles that are made to resemble the shape of diamonds. Though this sneaker itself doesn’t contain any of the precious stones (imagine losing a diamond on the streets…the horror!), the sneakers don’t lack in sparkles or style. The laces are threaded with glittered silver.
Rothy’s The Sneaker
Meghan Markle likes wearing her Rothy’s, so we like wearing our Rothy’s. Seriously, half of our editors own a pair or two. My personal favorite are these slip-on canvas options, which are suited for everyday wear. I’ve worn them with everything, from leggings on the weekends to jeans at the office.
Adrianna Sneakers
Velcro sneakers are cool again, and that’s not a surprise if they look like this pair. The colored topstitching adds an artsy edge to the plain kicks and makes the straps pop against the shoes. Even better—not having to tie laces means you’re out the door faster.
Rainbow Wave Sneaker
For sneakers that will enhance your mood as soon as you slip them on, try this rainbow and sunburst splattered pair from Soludos. The design was created by Brooklyn-based embroidery artist Marie Sophie Lockhart and has all the “good vibes” to jumpstart your day with. If you’re ready for unique white sneakers, these shoes are waiting for you.
This high-top sneaker has a major plot twist: the laces are on the back instead of the front. That alone is enough to make me do a double-take on these. Wear with a dress that has slits because you don’t want to hide these babies.
Ailbe 4 Printed Sneaker
Hummingbirds and rose-gold colored laces give this sneaker a feminine vibe, if that is what you’re looking for. This sweet-as-can-be footwear pairs nicely with more masculine pieces in your wardrobe like trousers or a blazer suit set.
Translucent High Top Sneakers
Take the opportunity to show off your funky collection of socks with this see-through high top sneaker. The footwear maintains that clean, crisp white look, but not in a boring conformist way. You’ll stand out in a sea of white sneakers with this one.
Alexia Logo Sneaker
Calvin Klein might be closing its high-end line, but that doesn’t mean the brand’s disappearing completely. You can still get a pair of shoes covered in the fashion house’s logo with this chunky platform select. Embrace the ’90s dad sneaker with a modern twist.
Superstar Genuine Shearling Trim Sneaker
The addition of shearling to a white sneaker is genius. Your foot will a) be warm b) look cool walking around in this furry footwear. Though it might not be practical for warm weather, it’s a good pair to have whenever the temperatures are a little cooler. Is it weird I want to desperately pet this shoe?
Army Cutout Leather Low-Top Sneakers
The perforated holes on this Rag & Bone sneaker will let your feet air out, so they’re not trapped in a pool of sweat. The openings add a cool design to the sides and top of the shoe, too. You can skip wearing socks with this sneaker.
K-Street Sneakers
On the opposite end of the spectrum, this high-top sneaker is a little less intense than the Nike pair. It has that classic silhouette with simple laces, but a bold red patch and tab on the back keeps it colorful and spirited. Don’t be afraid to get these a little scuffed.
